DISY leader Nicos Anastasiades won today’s presidential vote but failed to garner the required majority and will now face off against AKEL-backed Stavros Malas in a runoff vote next Sunday.
Anastasiades won 45.46 per cent with second-place Malas gaining 26.91 per cent.
EDEK-backed Giorgos Lillikas came in third with 24.93 per cent of the vote.
Exit polls earlier suggested Anastasiades might be able to secure just over 50 per cent of the vote, which would have allowed him to avoid the runoff next Sunday.
