Bar review: Lab, Limassol
Nestled among the row of high street shops in Anexartisias Street in Limassol lies Lab, an inconspicuous new bar where old Limassol charm meets conceptual design.
A café by day and cocktail bar by night, Lab has quickly become a hot-spot in the up and coming old part of town. As you walk inside, you are greeted with a spacious indoor, open-air courtyard and a design that successfully fuses the traditional with the modern. Industrial lighting is set against exposed brick and wooden walls in an open-plan space that manages to feel both cosy and cutting-edge at the same time.
Despite being situated amid the bustle of one of the busiest streets in town, Lab maintains a relaxed and private atmosphere in relation to its surroundings. Whether you’re a tired shopper looking for a place to grab a quick lunch or want to spend a few hours with friends sipping delicious and generous cocktails, then this is the place to head to. The menu caters to the tastes of many, with food ranging from salads to grilled dishes and a wide array of wine, spirits and cocktails on offer.
The make or break of any cocktail bar is the bartender, and this bartender definitely has the touch. The originality of the drinks will enthrall any cocktail drinker, but if you’re looking to try something different then the coconut daiquiri and the black margarita are a must. Cocktail prices range from €8 to €10 and although beverage prices are on the steep side, it would be hard to find a café of this kind that would be cheaper.
The lounge music enhances the chilled-out atmosphere and, unlike many other bars, is at that perfect volume that allows you to hold a conversation. Those who are wondering how they will enjoy the open-air courtyard now that temperatures are starting to drop, can rest assured. Strong outdoor heaters allow you to still comfortably enjoy the open space, making Lab a venue for all seasons.
