Our view: Blaming the government for banking crisis is excessive
EVERYONE is now calling for an investigation to establish the reasons for the difficulties being faced by Cyprus banks. The idea for an investigation was first mentioned by the former Rector of the Cyprus University Stavros Zenios and was embraced by President Christofias in a speech he made on Saturday at the conference of the bank employees union ETYK.Christofias said he was in talks with the new Governor of the Central Bank regarding the launching of an in-depth investigation into the banking crisis. The AKEL chief also agreed that there should be an investigation, while on Monday the House Finance Committee discussed this possibility. ... 7 comments
