Downer: talks could be going better
THE TWO leaders need to resolve the issues of property and the election of a federal executive if the UN is to convene a multilateral conference, said UN Special Adviser Alexander Downer yesterday. The UN official visited President Demetris Christofias yesterday and plans to meet Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu today ahead of peace talks tomorrow. Speaking to reporters outside the Presidential Palace, the Australian native showed none of the cautious optimism he displayed on his arrival to Cyprus in 2008. “We have to be honest.
