VALUABLES and electronic devices worth £41,450 sterling (€48,708) were stolen from the house in Paphos of 43-year-old, British tourist, Jonathan Mark, police said yesterday. Mark reported to police that the house he was staying in was burgled over the weekend and five mobile phones, two wristwatches, a diamond ring and other valuables including electronic devices were stolen. Peyia residents advised to step up security
RESIDENTS and home owners in Peyia in Paphos are being encouraged to install added security measures to try to curb burglaries in the district. The warning comes in the wake of a spate of burglaries in the area in the last week despite Peyia having a neighbourhood watch scheme.A police spokesman yesterday urged homeowners to take precautionary measures to protect themselves and their properties. He said doors and windows should be fitted with strong locks, and a light should be left on when the property is empty. Security lights fitted to the building exterior would also be a good idea and if possible a security system. He also suggested leaving the TV on when not at home... 2 comments
Spate of burglaries and thefts in Peyia
PAPHOS police are on the lookout after a spate of burglaries in the district saw €17,000 worth of jewellery stolen from a flat, two laptops and a small TV taken from another house and a paraglider stolen from a Paphos airport store room.“An action plan is in place and there are increased patrols on a daily basis in the Peyia area,” a policewoman from Peyia police station told the Mail. “The orders came directly from the chief of police and we are taking all the measures possible to prevent crimes from taking place,” she added.Peyia Mayor, Neophytos Akoursiotis was unwilling to comment... 3 comments
