Give our buses a chance
PUBLIC TRANSPORT is at a crossroads. The recent overhaul of the bus system pulled transport companies out of the “coma” they were in and provided the real “prospect” of a new future for a poor service down on its luck since the mass influx of cars in Cyprus. Yet public apathy, coupled with a serious economic downturn and government belt-tightening is threatening to put this new prospect to bed before the ink even dries, warned head of the Limassol Transport Company (EMEL) George Kyriacou. Speaking to the Sunday Mail, Kyriacou said public transport has been on a long and arduous journey since the early days of Cyprus' independence when no one had a car and the vast majority of workers travelled by bus. ... 9 comments
