Concrete mixers and betting shop gutted in separate arson attacks
TWO CONCRETE mixers, and equipment worth €150,000 were completely burnt yesterday at 2am in the Xylotympou industrial area.The fire broke out within the jurisdiction of the Sovereign Base Area (SBA) in Dhekelia.The SBA police said they had heard two loud bangs at around 2am and then “located two burning concrete mixers within a fenced-in area,” SBA spokesman Andreas Pitsillides said.It took the fire service an hour and a half to put out the fire after “superhuman efforts,” he said. Switched racehorse found brutally killed and buried
POLICE have exhumed and reburied the remains of a racehorse in the Akrotiri area, which was reportedly killed with an excavator by five people a week ago. They are investigating the possibility the horse was Elias Groove, which was switched with another horse during a race on April 18 at the Nicosia track.
