Turkey’s drilling plans ‘foolish’
TURKEY’S PLANS to explore for hydrocarbons in the occupied areas are “foolish and without substance”, Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis said yesterday.The purpose of drilling holes in “our land” is to satisfy public opinion since Turkey cannot find partners to participate in the “illegal” exploration, she argued. According to Turkish Cypriot press, drilling for hydrocarbons will start after April 24 in the occupied Famagusta village of Singrasi.
