Bomb at restaurant in Larnaca
Topic tags
CyprusPOLICE believe a personal vendetta was behind the bomb attack against a restaurant in the centre of Larnaca on New Year’s Eve.
Larnaca Police have arrested a 29-year-old man from Lioperti in connection with the incident. The suspect had previously worked at the restaurant, but was fired after disagreements he had with the owner.
The incident took place after 10pm on Sunday, just as the restaurant had closed, when someone placed an explosive device in front of the main entrance of the restaurant.
The blast wrecked the door of the restaurant and shattered nearby windows. The cost of the damage to the restaurant is estimated at £2,000.
The suspect was caught placing the bomb on the restaurant’s CCTV. He then left the scene.
The 29-year-old has been remanded in custody for six days until police conclude their investigations. He is denying any connection with the incident.
