THE EARTH Balloon will be making a tour of state schools early next year so that children can learn about the planet.
Resembling a large bouncy castle, the Earth Balloon can fit up to 25 children inside as it stands five metres tall and six metres wide. The balloon is accurate model of Earth, and its depiction of seas and continents are based on high-resolution satellite images.
For those who want a sneak preview, entirely free, it is currently on display at the National Bank of Greece on Makarios Avenue in Nicosia until Monday.
According to Giorgos Tzivas and Maria Stefanidou, the two people behind the project, anyone aged 5 to 86 can join in and climb inside. But you should call beforehand to make reservations, as it is really full already, on 96402325 or 22677727.
A large, inflatable planetarium will be sharing the Bank of Greece space with the Earth Balloon, showing the stars and constellations of the night sky. The planetarium will be set up for two shows, one today at 7pm and one tomorrow at 5:45pm.
