Nicosia sees most hooligan arrests

CyprusPOLICE officials yesterday issued an announcement revealing the total number of arrests made during crowd trouble at football games last season.
The announcement states that during the 2004-2005 football season, police made a total of 36 arrests at various sport grounds across the island.
Nicosia, GSP Stadium
A total of 54 football games, 39 league games and 15 cup games, were played last season at the GSP Stadium and a total of 271,811 tickets were sold for those games. During those fixtures, 15 people were arrested.
Larnaca, Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium and the GSZ Stadium
A total of 52 games were played last season and around 110,000 tickets were sold at the two grounds. A total of nine people were arrested during the fixtures at the two stadiums, one of whom is currently serving a five-month jail sentence.
Nicosia, Makarios Athletic Centre
A total of 13 league games and six cup games were played last season at the Makarios Athletic Centre and a total of 20,590 tickets were sold for those games. During those fixtures, seven people were arrested.
Limassol, Tsirium Athletic Centre
A total of 47 games were played last season in front of around 100,000 spectators. During those fixtures, a total of three were arrested.
Paphos, Paphiakos Stadium
A total of 13 games took place last season and around 20,000 tickets were sold. Only two arrests were made.
Paralimni, Municipal Paralimni Stadium
A total of 13 games took place last season, with around 10,000 tickets sold. No arrests were made.
