CyprusTWO MEN were arrested and remanded in custody yesterday on suspicion of beating a 30-year-old woman and forcing her into prostitution.
The 30-year-old Romanian woman reported to Paphos police that a fellow countryman and a Moldavian had first beaten her and then forced her into having sex with the latter and another two men.
Police spokesman Nicos Tsiappis yesterday confirmed that two foreigners, aged 37 and 44, were arrested and remanded in custody on suspicion of sexual exploitation of an adult, pimping and making profits from prostitution.
The woman said that the 37-year-old man had forced her in two incidents to have sex with men for payment. When she refused, she claimed she was beaten and raped by the 44-year-old.
The two men were led before Paphos District Court yesterday, which ordered their six-day remand while investigations continue.
