A 35-YEAR-OLD man appeared at the Nicosia District Court yesterday to face ‘public nuisance’ charges after calling President Demetris Christofias an ‘idiot.’

According to police, the 35-year-old was driving his car on August 3 last year when he saw the presidential limo, poked his head out of his window and allegedly shouted: “Idiot President, quit”.

PARTIES yesterday slammed Britain, which is seen as conspiring against Greek Cypriots, while at the same time they demanded the removal of the UN special adviser, accusing him of not being objective.

The latest burst of indignation came as reports out of New York said that Britain had raised the issue of the UN force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), saying its presence should be reassessed.

THE HOUSE of Representatives adopted a resolution last night accusing UN Special Adviser Alexander Downer of lacking credibility and of hampering the Cyprus negotiations.

It stopped short of calling for the Australian’s replacement however, despite calls by some deputies to do so.
