MARCOS Baghdatis has been seeded third in Los Angeles, where he will be joined by new coach Guillaume Peyre.

The two have reunited in time for the Olympus US Open Series, starting with the Farmers Classic.

Baghdatis worked with Peyre during the most successful spell of his career when he reached the Australian Open final in 2006 at the age of 20.

In his book Marcos Baghdatis, the Cypriot number one described Peyre as: “a sort of guardian angel and a friend as much as a coach.”

He added: “Guillaume and I have the same goal, and he always puts me back on course.  When I play, I know that I will meet his trusting and confident gaze. I gain strength from his presence.

“I have a lot of respect for him and I know he is one of the best trainers on the circuit.”

The Farmers Classic will be Baghdatis’ first stop on the tour after missing the Atlanta Tennis Championships last week, citing personal reasons.

Baghdatis is making his third appearance in Los Angeles and will hope to improve on a first-round exit in 2005 and a second-round loss last year.

In the second round, he takes on American wild card Ryan Sweeting who beat Belgium’s Kristof Vliegen 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in his first round encounter.
