Limassol police on Monday arrested a 40-year-old resident of Paphos wanted for setting fire to a house and stealing €180,000 in December last year.

The alleged offences were committed in Limassol on December 26 last year.

The fire broke out at 11.30pm at a residence of a 46-year-old man and it was later determined that it had been set on purpose.

Further investigations showed the house had been burgled before the fire started.

A safe containing €180,000 in cash was stolen, as well as jewellery and two watches worth €30,000.

Evidence pointed to the involvement of two men aged 40 and 23.

The 40-year-old was arrested on Monday evening while the search for the 23-year-old continues.
