Three deaths and 157 coronavirus cases were announced on Sunday by the health ministry.
The deaths concern two men, aged 67 and 89, and a woman, 83, all with underlying conditions.
Their cause of death was Covid-19. This brings the number of deaths to 170; 113 men and 57 women with an average age of 79.
The number of patients in state hospitals has risen to 208, of whom 56 are in serious condition. Thirty-two patients are intubated.
The new cases were detected among 7,056 tests, PCR and rapid tests.
In total 1,259 PCR tests were carried out. The positive cases concern 38 people who got tested through contact tracing, 26 were people who got tested privately, seven are samples processed by state hospitals’ labs, and two concern people who were referred for testing by their family physicians or as part of tests among special groups.
The rest of the tests carried out were rapid tests, among which 84 positive cases were detected. These cases concern two people who were found positive during tests in nursing homes in Nicosia, 38 cases during tests in the Limassol district, 28 in Nicosia and 16 in the Larnaca district.
This brings the number of total cases so far to 28,968.
