The uneven bars or asymmetric bars are an artistic gymnastics apparatus that feature as an event only in women’s competition.
As their name suggests, the bars are placed at different heights and widths, allowing the gymnast to transition from bar to bar, with routines reliant on a lot of strength, jumping and swings.
In this video, high-flying athletes and coaches from across generations describe the struggle to achieve “perfection” in the uneven bars, as well as the discipline and focus required for mastery.
