This meditative video explores Torres Del Paine, one of the most beautiful national parks in the world, from the solo hiker’s perspective.

The first part of the video captures the experience of the solitary trek, and then a detailed breakdown of how to prepare for the journey, follows.

Situated in southern Chilean Patagonia, and included in Unesco’s Biosphere Reserve system since 1978, the 1,810-squ.km Torres Del Paine park is best known for the three distinctive ‘Torres’ or granite peaks of the Paine Massif.

Named Torres d’Agostini, Torres Central and Torres Monzino, they extend up to 2,500 metres (8,200 feet) above sea level, and are joined by the Cuernos del Paine.

But there are plenty of other natural highlights to marvel at, too. They include sailing on Lake Grey to admire its eponymous glacier, or kayaking past its colossal blue and white icebergs, and, of course, taking in the wildlife.

The well-maintained ‘W’ and ‘O’ trails offer food and accommodation options along the way, but remember… nature here is not tamed. Weather can present four seasons in a day, with sudden rainstorms and fierce gusts, so pack your waterproofs and layers accordingly.
