The annual event that celebrates short films will return as the International Short Film Festival of Cyprus (ISFFC) is getting ready for its 11th edition in October. Organisers, the ministry of education and the Rialto Theatre, have recently announced a call for entries inviting filmmakers to be part of the festival.
Fiction, documentaries, experimental, student and animation short films not exceeding 25 minutes are eligible for participation in the festival’s competition sections. During the past decade, the festival has dedicated itself to the promotion of the cinematographic art by presenting a diverse programme of short films from around the globe aiming to showcase the work of talented filmmakers who successfully use creative cinematic language forms and effectively tell a story in a short film.
Cypriot films compete for both the International and the National awards of the ministry. Cypriot directors who live and work in Cyprus or abroad are entitled to submit their work. The right to participate is reserved for films being screened for the first time in Cyprus. Submissions can be made via shortfilmdepot.com and filmefreeway.com platform until June 15.
The festival will take place at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol, from October 9 to 15. A five-member international jury will award the prizes to the films competing.
