The health ministry announced one death and 132 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday from 36,863 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.36 per cent and total positives to date of 31,644.

The death concerned a man aged 63 with underlying conditions who died at the Nicosia hospital’s ICU. This brings total deaths to 211 of which 142 were men and 69 women with an average age of 79.

There are 112 people in hospitals of whom 33 are in serious condition. Of those, 17 are intubated.

Of the 36,863 tests, 2,090 were PCR and 34,773 rapid tests out of which 68 cases were detected.

From the PCR tests, 37 cases came from contact tracing, one from airport controls, ten from private initiative testing, 7 from hospital labs, one from GP referrals and eight from private lab testing.

Another 76 samples were taken from quarantined people who came from the UK. No positives were detected.
