One more person has died of Covid-19, while another 113 have tested positive islandwide, health authorities said Friday.

The death concerned a woman aged 49 with underlying conditions at the Nicosia general hospital. This brings total deaths to 219. The average age of the deceased from Covid-19 is 79 years.

There are 86 people in hospitals of whom 29 are in critical condition.

Of the 29 serious cases, 19 are intubated, three receiving treatment in ICU without intubation, and seven are in a high-dependency unit.

Famagusta general hospital, the referral facility for coronavirus patients, was treating 26 people.

Nicosia general had 33 patients, Limassol 26, and Makarios hospital one.

As far as the testing goes, the 113 new cases came about from a total of 31,205 samples, yielding a positivity rate of 0.36 per cent.

Of the 113 cases, 30 were from contact tracing, 14 from people getting tested on their own initiative, three from samples taken at microbiology labs in state hospitals, four from testing within the Cyprus basketball and volleyball federations and 62 from 29,915 antigen rapid test testing run by the ministry of health.
