Low temperatures, strong winds, snow and rain are expected from Monday, head of the met office Cleanthis Nicolaides said on Friday.

“We will have a wintry week, a far cry from the temperatures we have this week,” he said.

“This weather front will come from central Europe, where temperatures are extremely low at the moment. It will not be as strong as in central Europe though.”

The change is expected from Monday evening, with strong winds and rain in Paphos on Monday and Tuesday, when the front will move towards the east.

As he said, Cyprus will be affected by this system until next Friday.

For now, temperatures are still above average. On Friday and during the weekend they are expected to reach 20C inland and in coastal areas and 15C in the higher mountains.

Over the weekend, it may occasionally be cloudy but rain is not expected until Monday.
