Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou has convened meetings with hospital authorities and epidemiology experts on Tuesday, amid what appears to be a resurgence of coronavirus infections.
Ioannou was scheduled to meet state health services officials (Okypy) in the morning and members of the advisory team in the afternoon.
The meeting with the advisory team was convened on Monday evening, following the announcement of 302 new infections, most in Limassol.
The rise came the day Cyprus eased restrictions in certain sectors, including schools.
Hospital officials are expected to brief the minister on the state facilities’ readiness to tackle a potential third wave of the virus later in March.
Okypy spokesman Charalambos Charilaou said on Monday the organisation is operating on a worse-case scenario basis, which would see the deployment of over 300 beds in Covid wards and around 65 in ICUs.
