Interior Minister Nicos Nouris gave instructions Wednesday for damage caused by rain at the village of Lympia to be immediately repaired and solutions to be found to prevent a repeat of the phenomenon.

The minister visited the village, where rain and floods caused damage to private dwellings on Saturday.

District administration crews were working to restore damage in infrastructure while damage to private properties were being evaluated.

Repairs to rural roads will be covered by the central government for the most part with a small contribution from the local authority.

Nouris said the effort was to prevent the problems from arising again, announcing that a study will be conducted to identify the causes.

At first glance, it appeared that in a couple of cases, illegal interventions by private citizens were to blame.
