The health ministry announced there had been two deaths from Covid-19 on Sunday and that 337 people tested positive from 54,408 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.62 per cent.
The deaths concerned two men, one aged 61 and one aged 28. No further information on the deceased was provided.
There are 114 people in hospitals of whom 43 are in serious condition. Of these, 16 are intubated.
The ministry said that 65.79 per cent of patients were unvaccinated.
Of the 54,408 diagnoses made on Sunday, 4,403 were PCR and 50,005 were rapid tests yielding 337 positives as follows:
- 11 from 397 samples taken through contact tracing
- 3 from 2,690 samples taken at airports
- 40 from 934 samples taken through private initiative.
- 1 from 128 samples processed at hospital labs
- 108 from 22,897 samples tested at private labs and pharmacies
- 173 positives came from 27,108 samples tested under the health ministry’s free testing programme for eligible groups
- 1 positive came from 254 samples taken under GP referrals
