The health ministry will convene a Covid advisory meeting on Wednesday to reassess the government’s preparedness should a new outbreak occur.

Health ministry communications advisor Constantinos Athanasiou told CyBC on Tuesday there are now 70 patients with Covid in Okypy hospitals, up from 45.

Athanasiou said that Wednesday’s meeting will not focus on bringing back any specific measures, but rather to take inventory. The health minister will be present at the meeting.

Athanasiou emphasised that those belonging to vulnerable groups and the elder section of the population should proceed with their Covid vaccination regimen.

The health ministry’s latest weekly Covid report, issued on Friday, showed 3,544 infections confirmed within the previous week.

The infections were detected from 63,104 tests carried out from October 28 to November 3, giving a positivity rate of 5.62 per cent.
