President Nicos Anastasiades and his wife Andri met King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla at Balmoral Castle on Monday, where the two signed a memorandum of understanding on future civilian developments in the British bases areas of Cyprus.

According to a statement released by government spokesperson Marios Pelekanos, during the meeting, Anastasiades briefed the king on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus problem. Furthermore, they also discussed topics pertaining to the Commonwealth and the ongoing efforts to tackle climate change promoted by the Anastasiades government.

“King Charles thanked Anastasiades for the fruitful cooperation between Cyprus and the United Kingdom he maintained during his ten-year presidential term,” the statement said.

The energy crisis and Russia’s invasion in Ukraine were also on the agenda during the meeting.
