Cyprus witnessed a remarkable 58.5 per cent surge in total registrations of motor vehicles in November 2023, compared to the same month of the previous year, while also marking an annual increase of 34.6 per cent in the eleven-month period of 2023.
According to the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat), the total registrations of motor vehicles reached 3,997 in November 2023, a substantial rise from 2,522 recorded in November 2022.
Specifically, registrations of passenger cars rose by 74.6 per cent to 3,243 from 1,857 in November 2022.
From January to November 2023, the overall number of registered vehicles increased by 34.6 per cent, reaching 42,500 compared to 31,584 in the same period of 2022.
In addition, passenger car registrations during this period increased by 37.1 per cent, reaching 34,140 compared to 24,902 in 2022.
Among the registered passenger cars, 13,894 or 40.7 per cent were new vehicles, while 20,246 or 59.3 per cent were used cars. Notably, rental cars experienced a 38.7 per cent increase, totalling 5,393.
Registrations of buses increased to 306 from 84 in the January-November 2022 period, while registrations of freight transport vehicles grew to 4,100 from 3,564, marking a 15.0 per cent increase.
In detail, light goods vehicles increased by 11.3 per cent to 3,198, heavy goods vehicles by 41.8 per cent to 499, road tractors by 80.0 per cent to 144, and rental vehicles by 0.4 per cent to 259.
Registrations of motorcycles above 50 cubic centimetres surged to 305 in the January-November 2023 period from 237 in the same period of 2022.
Finally, motorcycle registrations below cubic centimetres increased by 28.5 per cent, reaching 3,151 in the January-November 2023 period, compared to 2,452 in the same period of 2022.
