A delivery driver in Limassol reported getting ambushed by three individuals who attacked him and stole his phone and wallet, police said on Sunday.

A 20-year-old man was remanded at Limassol district court for eight days on Sunday morning in connection with the incident, while officers are searching for another two individuals.

The incident unfolded on Saturday at 7:30pm at the Ekali area.

According to the delivery driver’s account, he went to Ekali to deliver a food order but one individual approached him and demanded the food.

Another two people appeared and surrounded him, where all three began attacking him.

They stole his mobile phone and wallet, he reported.

Delivery drivers have long protested an increase in attacks against them, calling on police to take the matter seriously.

Hundreds of delivery drivers in Limassol went on strike in August, however reports of attacks continue.
