Investigations by police in Limassol into the explosion of a bomb on October 3 near a car belonging to a 78-year-old man have resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old suspect and the discovery of weapons and explosives.

According to the police, evidence emerged during the investigation implicating the suspect, a resident of a village in western Limassol.

In a raid conducted in the early hours of Wednesday, police officers and members of the Limassol special anti-crime unit searched the suspect’s home and a storage facility, where they found two guns, ammunition, automatic weapon magazines and 20 boxes of fireworks and firecrackers.

Additionally, a van and a high-capacity motorcycle belonging to the suspect were seized under a court warrant.

In connection with the bomb explosion case, the police had previously arrested a 47-year-old woman, who is believed to have had financial disputes with the victim.
