The EU fisheries and oceans commissioner met with the Cyprus fishing representatives on Wednesday to talk about achieving a more sustainable, resilient fishery sector.

Costas Kadis, the recently appointed EU fisheries commissioner, held the meeting to focus on his continued support for the sector and stressed the need to cooperate with each other.

“This meeting shows that we are moving forward, while we need to keep cooperating with all relevant stakeholders, to achieve a more sustainable, resilient fishing sector,” he posted on X.

Costa Kadis was former Cyprus agriculture and environment minister and was elected as an EU commissioner for fisheries and oceans on December 1.
