The retail trade turnover value index in Cyprus increased by 7.2 per cent in November 2024, compared to the same month in the previous year, according to a report released this week from the state’s statistical service.

During the same period, the volume index of retail trade turnover rose by 6.3 per cent year-on-year.

In terms of value, the largest increases were recorded in educational and recreational goods—such as books, stationery, sports equipment, and toys—and clothing and footwear, both rising by 12.3 per cent.

Supermarket sales of food, beverages, and tobacco also saw significant growth, up by 11.7 per cent.

The most significant decline in value was observed in non-store retail trade, which dropped by 5.1 per cent.

When measured by volume, the largest gains were seen in clothing and footwear, which surged by 14.1 per cent, followed by educational and recreational goods, which grew by 10.2 per cent.

What is more, non-store retail trade also posted the largest volume decline, decreasing by 5.2 per cent.

For the period from January to November 2024, the value index is estimated to have grown by 5.4 per cent, while the volume index rose by 4.3 per cent compared to the same period in 2023.
