With the annual Poetry Slam Cyprus competition coming up in early March, two national winners team up to teach aspiring poets and writers all they know about slam poetry and how to get closer to a win.

The masterclass series will take place across three dates in February at Yfantourgeio the Workplace in Nicosia. Facilitating the sessions will be Argyris Loizou, a two-time Cyprus Poetry Slam winner, and Melissa Zenga, European and World Slam Finalist.

Poets, performers and wordsmiths are invited to join the three workshops and prepare for the Poetry Slam Cyprus coming up on March 9 to 11. On day one of the masterclass series, February 3, participants will explore what makes slam poetry unique and learn the art of storytelling and rhythm. This session is called The Basics of Slam Poetry.

The second workshop, The Art of Performance, on February 10, will have participants perform their own piece and get feedback on stance, breathwork, using the microphone and more. The third and final session, titled How to Win a Poetry Slam, will take place on February 17, where the two hosts and slam champions will share insider tips, from how to engage audiences and judges to how to elevate your poetry.
