A man was saved by a resident of his apartment building from a fire that broke out in his flat.

“A resident noticed the fire, breached the entrance of the apartment and helped the man to exit safely while he used a fire extinguisher to contain the fire,” the fire service’s spokesperson Andreas Kettis said.

Meanwhile, firefighters entered the apartment and used breathing apparatus and water hoses to extinguish the fire.

The fire broke out in the living room of the apartment was damaged extensively while the entire apartment was also damaged from the smoke.

An ambulance took the man to Larnaca general hospital’s A&E where he was treated for smoke inhalation.

Further investigation is being carried out to determine the cause of the fire.
