“We’re back!” says the Home for Cooperation as it prepares for its first walking event of the year. On February 21, Marios Antoniou will take participants on an exploration of the city of the Nicosia through an intercultural lens. As the evening walk has a bicommunal and international character that welcomes people of all backgrounds, the walk will be held in English.
Participants will set off from the Home for Cooperation at 6pm to discover the city’s stories. “The walled city of Nicosia is filled with structures and monuments that stand in time as remnants of the lives of people who existed in this place,” say organisers.
“These monuments stand as silent narrators, waiting for passersby to take a moment out of their busy routines and take a closer look. Join us as we leisurely explore the walled city of Nicosia and try to give voice to these silent narrators, finding out different stories and histories of public squares and spaces.”
Spaces are limited so those interested in joining the event are encouraged to book a spot online. Tickets cost €7. Participants are reminded to bring a valid ID or passport with them as they will cross the checkpoints.
The walk will end back at the Home for Cooperation where an evening of jazzy tunes and grooves will sound as the Misharoz Jazz Band takes the floor.
