A weak low-pressure system is affecting Cyprus, bringing dust in the atmosphere and strong north-easterly winds that are expected to persist until Thursday.
Today, intervals of increased cloud cover are forecast, with the possibility of isolated showers, mainly in western areas and mountainous regions. Winds will blow from the north to north-east at moderate to strong speeds of 4 to 5 Beaufort, reaching very strong levels of up to 6 Beaufort in windward areas. The sea will be slightly rough in the west, while the remaining coastal areas will experience rougher conditions. Temperatures are set to reach around 18C inland and along the coast, with highs of 9C in higher mountainous areas.
Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear, though occasional high clouds are expected. Winds will continue from the north-east at strong to very strong levels, ranging from 5 to 6 Beaufort, with gusts reaching 7 Beaufort along windward coasts. The sea will be slightly rough in the west and rough to very rough elsewhere. Temperatures will drop to 9C inland, 10C on the western coast, around 12C on other coasts, and 3C in the highest mountains.
On Wednesday, medium and high cloud cover will persist. By Thursday and Friday, the weather is forecast to become mainly clear, with temperatures gradually rising. No significant temperature changes are expected on Wednesday.
