Dust levels will increase during Wednesday, the Air Quality Monitoring Network of the labour department has announced.

“The dust contains inhalable particles, that might have an impact on people’s health, especially vulnerable population groups,” the labour inspection department said.

They urge people who are vulnerable to avoid moving around in open spaces until dust levels drop.

Employers must take the appropriate measures after considering the risks to their employees working in open areas.

“People working in such areas are recommended to use appropriate personal protective equipment.”

The latest hourly dust concentration values measured at 9am in the following areas were Nicosia 99.3 μg/m3, Limassol, 100.5 μg/m3, Larnaca 105.5 μg/m3 and Paphos, 108.6 μg/m3.
