British authorities have arrested a man wanted for the murder of a 63-year-old London Cypriot, it was reported on Wednesday.
The suspect was named as 42-year-old Paul Talland who had been wanted for the murder of 63-year-old Charlie Prodromos outside a pub in southeast London on Saturday.
Police were called to the scene on Lewisham’s High Street at 8.39pm and arrived to find Prodromou seriously injured. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the 63-year-old succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The attack occurred after an argument inside the Watch House pub, the BBC reported and Talland was arrested shortly after near the scene of the attack and charged with murder.
The 42-year-old, from Eltham, appeared in court on Monday where he was charged. His next appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5, at the Old Bailey.
Charlie Prodromou was born and raised in London. He worked as a painter-decorator, while his parents, originally from Kyrenia, had moved from Paphos to London, where they settled in Hackney.
