A weeklong firearm course was organised recently between sharp shooters of the British bases and the Cyprus National Guard in Episkopi.
On the course there were non-commissioned officers from both the bases and the National Guard practising their skills with pistols, rifles and shotguns.
They also applied the varied techniques developed by experts, increasing the improvement rates by 80 per cent per day.
“The Cyprus National Guard have sent their sniper instructor for the course, and we want him to see how we set up the course to benefit the young soldiers attending,” said bases captain Brian Trainer.
“They can look at our lesson plans closely to understand our teaching methods and in turn, they are able to do the same for us.”
Trainer pointed out that “both of us have similarities in how we teach but the philosophy remains the same…, it is very beneficial for all of us. I am impressed with what I see and there is a will to learn and that is a very good thing.”
