It is just around the corner, highly anticipated by Irish-culture lovers. In Cyprus, St Patrick’s Day is not a massive celebration in Cyprus yet several pubs, bars and organisations join in on the festivities with live music and dancing. As the day approaches, officially celebrated on March 17, Agrovino Wine Bar in Lofou puts on its own St Patrick’s Day entertainment next Wednesday with an evening of traditional Irish music performed by The Irish Ramblers.

The four-piece band, made up of JJ Cuddihy, Bernadette Robinson, Noelle Robinson and Phil Willcock, will perform jigs, reels and hornpipes on March 19. Playing on the Irish box, guitar, violin and banjo, The Irish Ramblers will also perform authentic versions of popular songs including Whiskey In The Jar, Danny Boy, Black Velvet Band, Wild Rover, Galway Girl, Molly Malone, Fields of Athenry, Dirty Old Town and many more.

JJ, Bernadette and Noelle are originally from Ireland and play only Irish music and are said to be the only authentic Irish band on the island. They spent 25 years playing Irish music in the oldest pub in Dublin, the Brazen Head. Phil, co-founder of the band, has been playing Folk and Celtic music in Paphos for 20 years where he also runs the Paphos Folk Club. Their upcoming gig aims to spread their deep love and knowledge of traditional Irish music.
