A new play titled Toula follows the personal and artistic journey of visual artist Toula Liasi. This new theatrical work by Campos Culture and Arts is a stage portrait of the important Cypriot artist based on interviews with her about the key events in modern Cypriot history that shaped her life and work.

Following performances in London, the piece will be presented at Xydadiko in Limassol on April 8, 9 and 10; the latter will include English surtitles. The Limassol performances are a co-production with the MITOS Centre for Performing Arts.

The script for Toula was written in the Cypriot dialect, verbatim, by director Diomedes Koufteros and actress Elena Agathokleous, based on interviews they conducted with Liasi herself. Using the same methodology, the Campos team previously staged the play Loulles in 2023.

The production was first presented at the State Gallery – Majestic in November 2024, in collaboration with the deputy ministry of culture, situating the theatrical performance in dialogue with the artworks of the gallery’s permanent exhibition.
