One of Greece’s most significant contemporary painters, Chryssa Vergi has returned to Cyprus at the peak of her creative artistic journey and over the past month has presented her latest work at Alpha CK Gallery. Titled Spring, Summer, Autumn… and Spring Again, the exhibition has entered its final run, and will conclude on April 7.

It gets its title from the South Korean director Kim Ki-duk’s film Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring, a film that deeply moved the artist and she paraphrased it to fit her artistic showcase.

Remaining true to her creative pursuit of evolving her painting and techniques, Vergi presents a series of evocative and mystical landscapes that hover between the visible and the metaphysical, establishing herself as a masterful storyteller of a deeply personal journey through nature.

In the works featured in the exhibition, the cyclical repetition of the seasons invites viewers to reflect on the stages of human growth. The uninterrupted cycle of life masterfully converses with the unbroken cycle of nature.

Together, the artworks compose a philosophical narrative, expressed through mesmerising imagery of unique beauty, reverently following the ecstatic rhythms of a Byzantine hymn. Within this hymn, every detail of the landscape becomes an ode to the magic of nature. A poem about the power of life, flowing like water – at times rushing with force, at others calm and serene.
