It is that time of the year again – to stroll through Lania’s cobbled lanes and take part in crafty and traditional activities. Lania is a journey back in time, and on May 10 and 11, the village truly comes to life. The beloved Lanes & Courtyards weekend returns, as the Women of Lania group invite visitors to explore hidden gardens, meet local artisans and soak up the village’s creative spirit.
From 11am to late afternoon on both days, private courtyards swing open their gates for visitors to wander through, with a Treasure Hunt adding a playful twist for those who love a challenge. On Saturday, catch two special talks at the Olive Mill: Rose in a Bottle at 3pm, diving into the art of rosewater making, followed by Olive in a Bottle at 4pm, exploring local olive oil traditions.
Sunday offers even more. At 11am, Maria and Christina share the secrets of silk production in a fascinating talk at the Event Hall. Later in the afternoon, the Olive Mill repeats the popular sessions on rosewater and olive oil. From 5.15pm, the Church Square will fill with music and dance as Double Bridge Dancers lead the celebrations, followed by performances from The Goldfinches and traditional chanting by Giorgos and his Lania group. The festivities wrap up with a Raffle Draw at the museum at 6.45pm while all around the village, food, drink and artists will await visitors.
