A 43-year-old man lost his life on Wednesday afternoon in a tragic workplace accident in Germasogeia, Limassol.

George Constantinou, a plumber, was found dead at around 2.30pm inside a lift shaft at a building site under construction. He had been carrying out plumbing work at the time.

Police said they cordoned off the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances of the fall. The labour inspection department is also involved in the inquiry.

Authorities are now trying to determine how Constantinou fell and whether safety rules were followed at the site.
