A woman was rescued from the sea caves in the Famagusta area following a coordinated emergency response by local fire and ambulance services.

The incident occurred earlier on Saturday near the coastal spot, attracting immediate attention due to the area’s difficult terrain. The Famagusta fire station led the rescue operation after receiving a distress call about a woman in need of help.

According to a statement posted on X by Andreas Kettis, the fire service’s spokesman, fire officers reached the woman and worked alongside the ambulance service to safely secure her.

She was placed on a specialist stretcher and lifted to road level using rescue harnesses. Once stabilised, she was transferred to the emergency department at Famagusta general hospital for further treatment.

Officials have not released further details about the woman’s condition. It remains unclear how she ended up in the caves, though the area is a popular yet hazardous location for visitors.

The swift and professional response of the rescue teams was praised online, with many calling it a clear example of effective coordination between emergency services.

The fire service reminded the public to exercise caution in natural sites such as the sea caves, especially during warmer months when visitors increase.
