Cookies sold under the name Myprotein Gooey Filled Cookie – Double Chocolate & Caramel are being taken off shelves because they contain gluten that is not listed on the label.

The ministry of health said the product includes wheat, a source of gluten, which can be dangerous for people with a gluten allergy, intolerance, or coeliac disease. The ingredient was not mentioned in the ingredients list, breaking food labelling laws.

The issue was discovered after a warning was shared through two international food safety systems: the EU’s rapid alert system for food and feed (RASFF) and the International food safety authorities network (INFOSAN). The cookie manufacturer confirmed the problem and has started a voluntary recall.

The recall applies to 75g individual packs and boxes of 12 x 75g cookies with best-before dates between June 17, 2025 and July 16, 2026.

People who may be affected are strongly advised not to eat the cookies and to return them to the shop where they bought them. The ministry said this action was needed to protect people’s health, especially those who must avoid gluten for medical reasons.
