The wooden roof of a house under renovation in Larnaca caught on fire, sustaining extensive damages, police said on Friday.

In a post on X, fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said the fire happened shortly before 11am on Thursday and that staff with two vehicles from the Larnaca fire station responded.

The fire caused extensive damage to the wooden roof of the residence while water hoses and breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire, he said.

The residence was locked and was under renovation and there had been nobody present inside, Kettis said.

Police and the electromechanical service are investigating the causes of the fire.
