In 2024, a total of 142 children spoke to the specially trained investigators of the police’s child sexual abuse investigation unit, reporting they were victims or witnesses of child sexual abuse.
Police said investigators do more than listen to the children’s testimony.
“More than that, they heard their silence screaming and the battles they fought inside, silent but true,” a statement said.
Police urged parents, guardians and professionals who come into contact with children to listen when they speak and most importantly, to learn to listen to their silence, as it is the most important gift that children can give.
