While the meeting had initially been expected to take place in Ankara, it was ultimately held in Istanbul due to Fidan’s participation in the Ukraine-Russia negotiations at the Çırağan Palace.
The meeting with the Turkish foreign minister follows Holguin’s visit to Cyprus last week. Holguin said on Saturday that both Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar and President Nikos Christodoulides “expressed willingness to make progress” towards achieving and implementing the confidence-building measures agreed upon at March’s enlarged meeting on the Cyprus problem
She is expected to travel next to Greece, the United Kingdom, and Brussels, in view of a five-day visit planned for July.
