Hotel worker trade unions warned on Wednesday they will be taking “dynamic measures” if employers continued to violate collective agreements and employee rights.
Trade unions Sek and Peo called on the labour ministry to intervene, as employer organisations were “questioning what had already been agreed and signed” in December 2024, in the presence of the labour minister himself.
They said that during Tuesday’s House labour committee meeting, the employer organisations questioned contributions to the provident fund and holiday compensation.
“This unacceptable attitude and action on the part of hoteliers completely negates the philosophy of the agreement memorandum, while numerous violations of the sectoral collective agreement are being identified in the hotel industry,” indeed at a time of “record tourist arrivals and revenue”, the unions said.
